Randy returned to California and immediately began working in television. Shortly after appearing on the Emmy- nominated "The Bold Ones" (with Hal Holbrook) , Randy was chosen to star in the new television series, "Emergency. " He played the leading role of Los Angeles Fire Department firefighter/paramedic John Gage for the show's seven-year run. Following "Emergency," Randy starred in two other television series -- "Operation Petticoat" and "Detective School" -- as well as several TV movies, including his favorite, "The Seekers, " a four-hour miniseries that comprised the last part of a John Jakes trilogy.
